Besides boating, she loved roller coaster rides, hang gliding, and zip lines. On nice days she would run over to her boat and enjoy her lunch in the middle of Seneca lake. She worked in the school cafeteria and at Guild Brothers Clothing Store in Montour Falls for 22 years. She was a Girl Scout leader even though she did not have a girl. Peg was a joyful person who loved people. They enjoyed their summers in a simple cottage on the lake and in a boat.
Peg enjoyed fast motorcycle rides with Merle’s Harley Indian. After Merle’s discharge they moved from Mississippi and settled in Montour Falls until they bought their forever home on Foot’s Hill Road and raised their two sons, Gary and John. Peg married Merle Wood in 1945 while he was still in the Marine Corps. She graduated from Mynderse Academy and enjoyed tumbling and cheerleading.
